Rectangle Armature

To start we must first establish vertical and horizontal lines.

In the west, we read from left to right.  We are acculturated to feel the bottom lines as weighted.

Starting from the lower left with draw a diagonal line to the upper right corner.

This is known as the Baroque diagonal.

The Baroque diagonal is calming and pleasing to the viewer.

As with the Baroque diagonal, we draw a line from the lower right, to the upper left. 

This line causes tension and unease. It is refereed to as the Sinister diagonal.

Starting from the corners and drawing our lines to the top and bottom centers, we draw the reciprocals of the Baroque and Sinister lines.

Each group of lines is rooted in the rectangle.  The dotted line represents the root rectangle.

The eyes are were the lines intersect.  these represent where points of attention.

Parallel lines start at the roots, and cross the eyes.

The basic armature of the rectangle. 

The primary points of interest appear along the Baroque diagonal. 

The second points of interest appear along the Sinister diagonal.
