The Sculptor's Chisel

Bust

« Back to Glossary Index

Bust : In sculpture, a bust is a representation in the round of the upper part of the human body including the head, neck, a variable portion of the shoulders, arms and chest.

A statue fragment with or without arms, can not be considered a bust.

Busts can be used for memorials or to help decorate a building.

We desperately new new young blood here.  I would recommend you visit the National Statuary Collection, but I am so dissatisfied at the quality of sculpture in the past 50 years.  The works for the most part are a shameful sham.  Fake artists, Affirmative Action artist have replace capable artists.  We are truly in decline as a nation, with the suffering of our arts.

You can witness the rise and fall of nations throughout all human history.  The arts precede each rise and fall.
